Crossout Launches New Horizon Season With Naval Firepower and Battles in the Dark.

Crossout is kicking off its latest season, New Horizon, bringing a collection of new weapons and vehicle parts alongside some unusual new ways to battle.

Gaijin Entertainment has announced the launch of New Horizon, the latest season for its post-apocalyptic vehicle combat game Crossout.

The update introduces new equipment and combat options, with one of the more unusual additions being the MVP Flagship air cushion. The huge vehicle part can carry armoured cars across the battlefield at speeds of up to 70 km/h, while increasing cabin power when enemies are nearby.

New weapons join the fight

New Horizon also expands Crossout’s arsenal.

The Smasher cannon fires enormous naval cannonballs which gain damage and impulse during the first 125 metres of their flight, rewarding players who can land long-range shots.

There’s also the ATGM Cornet, which launches laser-guided missiles. Players can release the guidance early, causing the projectile to split into four explosive fragments.

The update also introduces the MPR-8 Slice radar, designed to periodically detect concealed and invisible opponents, alongside the heavy Wildhog cabin.

Things are getting dark

Perhaps the most interesting additions are New Horizon’s special PvP brawls.

In No Signal, player names and minimap icons disappear and friendly fire is enabled. Players instead have to use the colour of vehicles to work out who is friend or foe before opening fire.

Blind Fire takes the idea even further by making every participant invisible. Firing a weapon, activating a module, taking damage or colliding with something temporarily reveals your vehicle. Players can also track opponents by listening for sounds and watching for dust clouds.

That’s a very different proposition from a normal Crossout firefight.

The New Horizon season and Battle Pass will be available until November 25, with the Deluxe Battle Pass also offering additional seasonal bonuses.

Crossout is available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
