AION 2 is now officially available worldwide, with NC launching its new open-world MMORPG for free on PC via Steam and its PURPLE platform.
The full launch follows AION 2’s Early Access period, which began on 30 September for Founder’s Pack owners. According to NC, the game reached the number one position in Steam’s top-selling charts across more than 10 regions during Early Access.
The new MMORPG follows the original AION, which first arrived on PC 17 years ago, while significantly expanding the scale of its world and combat systems.
A New Generation of AION
Built specifically for PC and powered by Unreal Engine 5, AION 2 features a world that NC says is 36 times larger than the original game.
Flight once again plays a major role, allowing players to explore the skies, travel across the environment and take part in aerial combat.
Combat has also been designed around a faster pace, combining precision, timing and positioning with more traditional tab-targeting MMORPG mechanics.
Players can take on a range of PvE activities, including solo content, five-player dungeons and 10-player raids.
PvP also plays a significant role, with 1v1 and 4v4 arenas alongside large-scale cross-server Realm-vs-Realm battles. The faction-based Abyss from the original AION also makes its return.
Eight Classes and More Than 200 Customisation Options
AION 2 launches with eight playable classes alongside more than 200 character customisation options.
The story takes place around 200 years after the events of the original game. Following the destruction of the Tower of Eternity, the Elyos and Asmodian factions now find themselves navigating a shattered world while facing a newly empowered Balaur faction.
NC has also spent much of 2026 preparing the global version of AION 2, gathering feedback from Western players and making changes including adjustments to pricing and its launch plans.
Servers are available across North America, South America, Europe and Asia, with support for multiple languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Russian.
