Steam Machine Hit By First “Red Line of Death” Report
A Steam Machine owner has shared what appears to be the first reported case of a “Red Line of Death” fault, with the system allegedly failing after around 20 minutes of use.
According to Valve’s own LED error guidance, the red light pattern shown may point towards a GPU failure. However, this currently appears to be an isolated case rather than evidence of a wider hardware issue.
The situation has still sparked plenty of debate online, with players comparing it to the Xbox 360’s infamous Red Ring of Death. For now, though, this looks like one faulty unit — not a confirmed Steam Machine crisis.
