CRKD Nitro Deck 2 Begins Shipping Worldwide for Nintendo Switch 2

CRKD has begun shipping the long-awaited Nitro Deck 2 worldwide, bringing its redesigned handheld controller to Nintendo Switch 2 while retaining full backward compatibility with the original Switch and Switch OLED.

CaptiStick replaces Hall Effect

One of the headline upgrades is CRKD’s new CaptiStick technology. Rather than using Hall Effect sensors, the Nitro Deck 2 uses capacitor-based, zero-contact thumbsticks designed to eliminate stick drift while avoiding magnetic interference. Players can also adjust the physical resistance of each stick to suit their preference.

Redesigned for comfort and fit

CRKD has reworked the ergonomics of the original Nitro Deck with deeper sculpted grips and an offset right thumbstick intended to give the hand a more natural position during longer sessions.

The console is now secured using a retractable locking dial rather than being slid into place. A legacy adapter is included for the original Switch and Switch OLED.

More than a handheld grip

The Nitro Deck 2 can also work as a standalone pro-style controller. Its removable centrepiece allows it to be used when the console is docked, with support for Bluetooth and wired USB across Switch hardware, PC, mobile devices and selected smart TVs.

Other features include four remappable rear buttons, additional L2 and R2 shoulder buttons, adjustable vibration, motion control, adjustable thumbstick deadzones, Turbo Mode and swappable stick tops and D-pads.

Four launch colourways

CRKD is shipping the Nitro Deck 2 in White, Smoke Black, PAL Grey and a Fusion Limited Edition produced in collaboration with Limited Run Games. The Fusion model mixes Glacier Blue and Atomic Purple in a split translucent design.

The Nitro Deck 2 is priced at £89.99 in the UK, with a $99.99 US price and €99.99 European price.

WildStar’s take

The original Nitro Deck established a strong identity around handheld control, and the sequel appears to be addressing the areas that matter most: ergonomics, compatibility and long-term stick reliability.

CaptiStick is the feature we would be most interested in testing properly. Claims around drift resistance and adjustable stick feel are exactly the kind of thing that needs prolonged hands-on use rather than a quick specification comparison.

The combination of Switch 2 support, backward compatibility and standalone controller functionality also makes the Nitro Deck 2 unusually versatile for a handheld accessory. It is firmly on WildStar’s hardware-review radar.
