Razer Unveils Tartarus V2 Pro With 31 Programmable Controls and 8000 Hz HyperPolling

Razer has unveiled the Tartarus V2 Pro, a new analog optical gaming keypad built around deep customisation, rapid input and one-handed control for games that demand a lot of commands at once.

31 programmable controls

The Tartarus V2 Pro features 31 programmable controls, giving players space for ability bars, macros and genre-specific layouts from a dedicated keypad rather than a full keyboard. Razer has also added a full-sized anti-drift TMR thumbstick with three dedicated buttons.

Analog Optical Switch Gen-2

Razer’s Analog Optical Switch Gen-2 technology gives each key an adjustable actuation range from 0.1mm to 4.0mm, alongside Rapid Trigger sensitivity down to 0.1mm. Razer rates the switches for a 100-million keystroke lifespan.

8000 Hz HyperPolling and onboard profiles

The keypad supports up to 8000 Hz HyperPolling and Razer’s Advanced Input Control features, including Snap Tap, Snap Flex and Dynamic Keystroke. Players can configure up to 24 keymaps across three onboard profiles through Razer Synapse, with actuation and Rapid Trigger adjustments also available directly on the device.

An adjustable wrist rest

Razer has also made the wrist rest fully adjustable. It can slide outward and rotate left or right, allowing players to change the angle of the support rather than adapting their hand position around a fixed rest.

WildStar’s take

The Tartarus V2 Pro is clearly aimed at players who want far more control over input behaviour than a standard keypad usually offers. The combination of adjustable actuation, a TMR thumbstick and a large number of programmable controls makes it particularly interesting for MMOs, shooters and games with heavy macro or ability use.

This is hardware news rather than a hands-on review, so we are not making any judgement yet on comfort, switch feel or whether 8000 Hz polling provides a meaningful advantage in real play. Those are exactly the things we would want to test properly before reaching a verdict.
