Stoke Games has launched its free-to-play multiplayer tank shooter Tyr into Early Access on Steam, alongside a brand-new launch trailer.
Rather than focusing purely on firepower, Tyr puts an emphasis on positioning, team strategy and choosing the right vehicle for the job.
Players can choose from a roster of armoured vehicles with different armour profiles and special abilities, including cloaking technology, sonar pulses and launchable drones. Different tanks are designed to fill different roles, from mobile light tanks used for spotting enemies to long-range damage dealers and heavier vehicles built for close-quarters fighting.

Each tank can also be developed through individual tech trees, with upgrades to components and ammunition allowing players to tailor vehicles around their preferred playstyle.
Stoke Games says Tyr has been developed alongside some playtesters for more than three years, meaning the Early Access release already arrives with an established community behind it.
The developer is also positioning the game as a fairer approach to free-to-play. According to Stoke Games, powerful tanks and weapons will not be locked behind spending, with monetisation instead including optional cosmetic items and a Founder’s Pack for players who want to support development.
A new launch trailer has also been released alongside the Early Access debut.
