Codebrew Software’s tactical space roguelike will enter Steam Early Access on September 15, 2026.
Independent UK developer Codebrew Software has confirmed that Sublight will launch into Steam Early Access on September 15, 2026, bringing its distinctive blend of space combat, roguelike progression and bullet-heaven action to PC.
Developed by a solo developer based in Nottingham, Sublight puts players in command of powerful capital ships as they battle through increasingly dangerous enemy forces, build devastating weapon combinations and adapt their tactics over the course of each run.

Rather than simply placing upgrades onto a ship, Sublight places greater emphasis on positioning and tactical decision-making. Weapons occupy physical locations across each vessel and operate within their own firing arcs, meaning players must think carefully about ship movement, enemy positioning and how their chosen arsenal works together.
The Early Access launch is planned to include six completed levels, two enemy factions, multiple bosses, nine playable ships and more than 16 weapon types, alongside rotating level modifiers designed to keep subsequent runs unpredictable.
Codebrew plans to continue expanding the game throughout Early Access, with further enemy factions, ships, weapons and build options already planned. A development roadmap is also expected to follow after launch, with community feedback continuing to play an important role in shaping future updates.
Sublight has already undergone significant development following its appearance at Steam Next Fest, with combat systems, weapons, status effects and enemy encounters all receiving further refinement ahead of September.
Its combination of large-scale space combat and the increasingly popular bullet-heaven formula gives Sublight an interesting identity in a genre that continues to grow rapidly. The focus on weapon placement, firing arcs and ship-specific builds adds an additional tactical layer beneath the spectacle of increasingly chaotic battles.
