What a stunning and beautiful pixel art world Nocturne is.
I could sit on the menu for ages just listening to the song, the music just roaming around is so good and then comes the combat music.. Pure rock and metal goodness.
So to put this game into context.
It is a rhythm combat story driven rpg. Now I’ve never really been into rhythm games but this game just grabbed me from the get go.
The fights take you away into this guitar hero style board where you play to the music and damage the enemy. It’s a really fun take and if you are like me and not great at hitting buttons on time the game has 6 difficulty levels to cater for beginners or the true hardcore fans of this game type.

The Story
This is really impressive, humanity is over and your mind has been uploaded to a digital world and without going too much into spoiler territory, you explore this digital afterlife, making friends and figuring out just what has happened and what has become of this world. The characters are all likeable and the dialog is extremely well written with some great humour and many enjoyable conversations. It’s just such a beautiful game.
The boss fights are nothing short of epic and the amazing soundtrack of over 100 songs makes every fight feel unique and refreshing, not to mention the use of a national symphony orchestra. The game just blends a rich deep story telling with an old school rpg and just throws in such a cool way to fight enemies.
Final Verdict
I didn’t have any performance issues or come across any bugs during my playthrough and for someone that was going into this game not expecting much..wow i have to admit as well this is the first game in a long time where i have actually cared about the characters Such a beautiful game that has surprised me so much I highly recommend giving Nocturne a go. What a gem!
